The Bouncing Souls Tempe Concert reviews
Bigger isn't always better, Elton
At the Verizon Center this past Thursday, I was looking forward to seeing The Bouncing Souls. The Croatian cellists were great fun! The band, the setlists, and The Bouncing Souls themselves were wonderful. The sound guy had The Bouncing Souls and their piano turned up SO LOUD that their vocals were often muddy. Their piano playing was frequently painful with each keystroke, resulting in a lessening of my enjoyment of the show. I have been fortunate to attend many rock concerts now that I'm retired. I can't blame the venue, since I've seen Eric Clapton, the Stones, Cher, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Bob Dylan, the Eagles and others at the Verizon Center as well. All of them were able to bring better some of the subtle nuance and feeling to their music that can be attained through well-applied sound management. The Bouncing Souls and the band SHOUTED AT ME all evening. Most of the songs were ones I have enjoyed through the years, but I was glad when the evening came to an end and the shouting stopped.
